“It seems like every week a new fantastic restaurant or shop is popping up within a few minutes’ drive of Cheverly – making my home-sweet-home even more sweeter. As a wanna-be work-out junky I am always looking for exciting new options. Life has gotten busier with work and family, so I don’t have all the excess time I used to have to hit the gym. It needs to be fast, close and intense. That is why I was so excited when I heard that a new CrossFit box is opening up in Hyattsville, less than a 10 minute drive from Cheverly.
What is CrossFit? It is a high-intensity fitness program that can be scaled to any body, any age, and any level of fitness. Many people think it is mostly military and police that do this type of workout – but even I, a slow-poke mom, loved the challenge when I went to the DC New York Ave location. It will push you to your limits in a supportive community.
The Hyattsville location is in an industrial area was beautifully but simplistically outfitted. The plan is to add more equipment such as a rock climbing wall as they get the business underway. It is a huge space with dedicated parking! Right now they have 6 am and after-work classes scheduled – with a mixture of CrossFit and a CrossFit “light” (called Lift-Off) for those, like me, that need to get back in shape. They plan to add more classes and are interested in day-time options for those that might have a nontraditional work schedule or stay-at-home parents.” -Jennifer Butler, ichoosecheverly.com
